Vsnap and PowerInbox give the people what they want!

By Dave McLaughlin, CEO and Co-founder of Vsnap

Vsnap makes it easy for really customer-centric businesses to engage in a more personal way with the people who buy their products and (hopefully) promote their brands. Customers love to receive short video messages from the people behind the businesses they support. When it’s done right, it’s so much more personal and authentic than an email.

Part of the power of a vsnap comes from the fact that you can easily add attachments to your video messages. In other words, the recipient sees your video message and your other links, documents, discounts (etc.) all in the same screen. This is important because context makes things clearer, which helps people act.

And they do act. We’ve seen that people take action about 41% more when you reach them via Vsnap, rather than via email.

As you might imagine, with that kind of lift in conversions, we want to make sure that more of the vsnaps that get sent actually get viewed. If I send you a vsnap, then you will receive an email notification, like when you get a Facebook notification saying you’ve been tagged in a photo. To view your vsnap, you have to click through that email. It’s not a big deal at all, but we saw an opportunity to make that easier for our users and the people they are sending vsnaps to. And we jumped on it.

PowerInbox is a new startup that allows companies like Vsnap to write apps that work in consumers’ inboxes, if they opt in. For Vsnap, our PowerInbox app allows people receiving vsnaps to watch those video messages, and interact with any attached links or docs, right in their email interface. It doesn’t get any more convenient than that.

For us, incorporating PowerInbox was about being as customer-focused as the businesses we serve. We know people love vsnapping. We know that the tool helps them create value. From there, it’s all about making it easier and easier to use. That means giving them a PowerInbox app.

I hope you’ll try it out (download the app extension here) and let us know what you think in the comments below, via email, or on Twitter. And you can learn more about PowerInbox by following them on Twitter: @PowerInbox
